SVQ Assessor - Children & Young People - Temporary until 28 June 2026 - EC01603

Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting role of SVQ Assessor within the Childhood Practice team.

The role will involve work-based assessment and internal verification for candidates completing the Social Services Children and Young People awards, the SVQ units delivered on our HNC Childhood Practice courses, and the SVQ Playwork awards. This role includes on and off campus working.

To meet regulatory requirements SVQ Assessors for these awards must have a registerable qualification acceptable to the SSSC for the area and level of practice being assessed, and have knowledge and experience of the regulation and legislation applicable to the sector including the SSSC Codes of Practice.

The ideal candidate must have significant occupational experience in a relevant role in a setting offering play, care and learning opportunities for children and young people.

Applicants should either hold a recognised assessor award or be willing to work towards this.

Please note that the successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus and outreach venues. The post will usually involve working one day and one evening per week.
