Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the post of Workplace Assessor in Engineering to develop, co-ordinate and assess the Modern Apprentice programs within the multi-discipline engineering curriculum and commercial income areas.

This role involves providing support to both apprentices and employers throughout their course of study, as well accurately assessing apprentices work to ensure it meets the awarding body standards. The role also involves liaising with potential new employers to promote the colleges Modern Apprentice program.

The primary function is to develop business, co-ordinate and assess the Modern Apprentice program for a specialist area within multi-discipline, mechanical, electrical, fabrication and welding. Applicants from Welding and Fabrication backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply. The role will provide support to the apprentices throughout their course of study and be the point of contact in working towards their award.

Educated to SVQ3 and VRQ with a Modern Apprenticeship qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline, you will possess knowledge of sustainable and new technologies and possess professional business development experience and up to date skills in engineering practices disciplines.

It would be desirable to hold an assessor’s award qualification (L&D9DI, A1 or D32/33 assessor qualification), verifiers’ award qualification (L&D11 or D34/35). Post apprenticeship qualifications and any emerging engineering technologies qualification would be beneficial to the role.

If you are interested in using your enthusiasm for developing and growing engineering apprenticeships at Edinburgh College, and your ability to relate to people, to deliver quality skills training to our students we would like to hear from you.

We operate a guaranteed interview scheme and open this to BME groups, people living with a disability, the care experienced and Armed forces veterans - if you meet the essential criteria, you will automatically be selected for an interview.

Please note that the successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
