We are currently seeking applications for a CLD Standards Council Development Officer - Policy within Education Scotland based in Glasgow, Livingston, Dundee or Aberdeen. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. The Community Learning and Development Standards Council (CLDSC) for Scotland is the professional body for people who work and volunteer in adult learning, community development and youth work. We are a member led organisation of approximately 3000 members and our strategic objectives are informed by the wider membership and directed by the CLDSC executive and working committees. We are funded by the Scottish Government and supported with a ministerial approved Chair. Our core responsibilities are to:

• Deliver a professional approvals structure for qualifications, courses and development opportunities for everyone involved in CLD

• Maintain a registration system available to practitioners delivering and active in CLD practice

• Develop and establish a model of supported induction, CPD and training opportunities

Reporting to the Assistant Director of the CLD Standards Council, the main area of responsibility for this post is to support the achievement of CLD Standards Council's strategic priorities.

The Development Officer will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of relevant CLD policy and will work closely with the senior management team to assist in the development of CLDSC policy.

Qualifications Required

Educated to degree level (SCQF 9) within any of the following disciplines;

• Community Learning & Development

• Public Policy and Administration

• Politics and Economics

• Sociology

Essential Criteria

1. Experience of policy development and / or analytical skills.

2. Knowledge of the CLD sector and experience of working in a policy environment. Along with awareness of current and future skills and employability issues and challenges.

3. Well-developed organisational and programme management abilities to cope with diverse and changing workload in a politicised environment.

4. Demonstrable strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to analyse, understand and respond to complex issues in an appropriate manner, demonstrating good judgement and awareness of the audience's level of understanding. Being able to build, develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as working flexibly with colleagues in stakeholder organisations.
