About the Role
The Deputy Management Accountant will prepare, develop and analyse key financial information to support Management Accountant and the college’s management in making well-informed decisions to ensure future stability, growth and profitability.
The role will assist in the preparation of the colleges annual financial statements, monthly management accounts and the colleges budgets and forecasts in line with statutory regulations and Scottish Funding Council requirements, whilst maintaining accuracy and ensuring adequate controls are in place.
Key Responsibilities
· Assistance in the preparation, maintenance, review and issuing of the monthly management accounts, in line with the appropriate accounting policies and deadlines set
· Provide finance support and advice to budget managers across the college on the control and monitoring of budgets allocated to them
· Support the finance business partner process providing advice and support to budget holders to interpret, manage and analyse their budget reports. This will include closely managing the budgets allocated to ensure spend is incurred in line with the plans set at the beginning of each year. Compiling variation reports for management as required.
· Support the Management Accountant in the preparation of the College annual accounts in line with required accounting policies and standards. Working with the Management Accountant to fulfil external audit requests during the audit period.

Qualifications and Experience
- Essential:
- Professional Accounting Qualification (CA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) or working towards full qualification
· A thorough understanding and knowledge of management accounting
· Experience in compiling, presenting and explaining financial information to a management level
· Experience in compiling, presenting and explaining financial information to a management level
- Desirable:
· Experience in the production of annual financial statements and leading in the annual audit process
· Experience in compiling and presenting budget/forecast information
· Experience in VAT implications and calculation for Colleges.
· Experience of procurement process, in particular for the Public/College sector
Skills and Attributes

· Organisation skills to ensure monthly/quarterly/annual deadlines and deliverables are met
· Ability to relate to both financial and non-financial staff and stakeholders
· Strong analytical skills with power of analysis and problem solving
