About the Role

Working under the direction of the Head of Organisational Development and Digital Learning, and the Digital Learning Manager, the Digital Learning Technologist will have a strong interest and be proficient in the use of digital technologies to support learning and teaching, and will follow emerging trends within the technology and education sectors to keep abreast of new technologies.

You will support the day to day running of the Digital Learning function, including the use and administration of the College’s Virtual Learning Environment and online portfolio system(s); the deployment and support of digital learning systems/tools, ensuring they meet the needs of staff and students; supporting the learning innovation / immersive spaces and ensuring the helpdesk is fully supported

Key Responsibilities

· Provide a high quality, responsive service designed to enable learners, staff and external stakeholders to make best use of the College’s Virtual Learning Environment, online portfolio and e-assessment systems

· Engage with Academic teams to enable curriculum staff to adopt new technologies as part of their learning and teaching practice

· Provide advice, guidance and training to staff to ensure that learning materials developed by the College comply with good practice and legislation in browser compatibility, accessibility and usability

· Support staff and learners in the use of the Immersive and Innovation space (IIS) rooms / Learning Innovation Hubs across college to build confidence and support understanding in the use of a variety of technologies.

· Advise and support curriculum staff in the development, enhancement and maintenance of online teaching materials using appropriate software tools and templates, ensuring adherence to the Digital Learning Standards

· Develop content to support blended learning and fully online methods of delivery

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential:
  • Educated to HND level or equivalent (SCQF level 8) in a relevant discipline or recent experience in a similar role.
  • Desirable:
  • Project Management certification
  • IOSH working safely certification
  • Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology

Skills and Attributes

  • Essential:
  • Proven experience in creating effective robust learning resources using a range of digital development tools.
  • Proven experience in the configuration, management and administration of learning platforms including online portfolios and Virtual Learning Environments.
  • Proven experience of working with immersive technologies.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience delivering training to small groups and on a one to one basis.
  • Project management experience
  • Proven experience in HTML, Javascript, CSS and responsive design
