Infrastructure and Experience (Digital Access Team)

About the Role

With a welcoming and friendly approach you will proactively engage with Faculty teams, learners and other stakeholders to promote the resources and services provided by the libraries service. You will actively engage with end users to understand their needs and find creative ways to tailor the resources and services offered.

With a broad understanding of IT skills, you will work closely with colleagues within the Digital Access Team to ensure that staff and learners are able to make effective use of the range of digital resources and services provided by the libraries service as well as the wider range of IT systems in use within the College.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide assistance and support to learners, staff and external stakeholders, both in person and remotely using a service desk tool to enable end users to make best use of the range of resources and services provided by the libraries service.

· Oversee the physical library space and administer and maintain the resources and services provided by the libraries service.

· Actively participate in events designed to promote the libraries service to Faculty teams and learners and will support the Campus Digital Access Lead to develop new ways to engage with end users.

· Contribute to learner induction sessions and assist in providing one to one delivery of training sessions related to research skills, general IT use, referencing, etc

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential:
  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent (SCQF level 7) in a relevant discipline or recent experience in a similar role
  • Proven experience working in a busy office or library environment
  • Experience of using library management systems
  • Proven experience in using the tools and technologies required for day-to-day administration and learning and teaching in FE (for example web browsers, office applications, webinar tools, tablets and smart phones)
  • Experience working with end users to find creative and innovative solutions to problems Experience of using cash handling procedures


  • Desirable:
  • Professional qualifications e.g. Customer Service qualification (e.g. World Host). European Computer Driving License (ECDL)
  • Experience delivering training to small groups and on a one to one basis
