As part of the Engineering, Science, Technology and Built Environment department you will be part of the team that establishes Fife College’s new Energy Transition Hub. The Hub will be located at the Rosyth Campus and next to the planned Forth Green Freeport. This an exciting position that will help deliver an innovative learning environment that will support students and business in the NetZero Economy
The role holder will lead on the design of NanoGrid, a small scale grid system that will be used to provide education and training to students on courses across engineering. The intention is that the completed system will include small scale solar panels, wind turbine, batteries, EV charging and potentially hydrogen storage along with system management and control software. The project is being support by an academic partnership that can provide additional design expertise. The role holder will be expected to lead design reviews, develop technical documentation and support procurement, installation and commissioning of the system.
We are seeking candidates who have a technical qualification at SCQF level 8 in electronic or electrical engineering, with the ideal candidate having qualifications in Renewable Energy Systems and 2 – 3 of work experience in design, installation and commissioning of these systems. The post holder will work closely with the Project Manager to develop the detailed planning for the delivery of the Nanogrid therefore the ideal candidate will be familiar with work packages, developing schedules or work and delivering activities to agreed schedule and cost.
The ideal candidate has excellent organisation skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively. You should enjoy working in a fast paced environment sometimes to tight deadlines. You should have a high attention to detail and be able to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are all essential for this role in order to build effective working relationships across the college and with external partners.
