Technician – Chemical Process and Chemistry 
£29,593 - £32,040
1.0 FTE / 35 Hours
Based at Falkirk Campus
Permanent

The Department of STEM and Construction wish to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Chemical Process and Chemistry Technician to work with lecturing staff to support learners across SCQF levels 5 to 8. You will work across all areas of the Chemical Process, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry delivery in the Process Laboratory, Instrumentation Laboratory and general Science laboratory. 

Key duties in this post include:

Working safely and adhering to Health and Safety protocols
Preparing materials and solutions and setting up equipment or use in practical classes
Maintaining, running and demonstrating the Process Laboratory Equipment
Fault finding on equipment 
Demonstrating and running equipment in the Instrumentation laboratory including GS/HPLC and IR
Setting up and carrying out demonstrations in the laboratories to students
Retrieving and clearing away equipment and materials
Monitoring and restocking consumables in the laboratories
Stocktaking in particular with the annual stock take 
Ensuring all equipment is working correctly
Supporting the teaching staff and other technicians in the department.

You will ideally be educated to a minimum of HNC level in a related subject, this will be a Chemistry based subject, ideally an HNC in Chemical Process Technology or Chemical Engineering although applicants with relevant industrial experience and relevant SVQ will be considered. You will be an adaptable and innovative individual with a passion for. Ideally you will have experience working in a similar role.  

Travel between campuses will be required as part of this role and therefore a driving license is desirable.
