Part-Time Playworker - After School Care (Milngavie) starting August 2026

The Glasgow Academy is seeking to recruit a part-time Playworker to join our After School Care team at TGA Milngavie. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring individual who enjoys working with young children and is committed to creating a fun, safe and engaging environment.

The Role

You will work as part of an established team delivering high-quality childcare within our After School Care provision.

Hours: 2.45pm – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday (term time)

Holiday Club: 16 hours per week

Location:

Term time: TGA Milngavie, Mugdock Road, Milngavie, G62 8NP

Holiday club: Kelvinbridge, Glasgow G12 8HE

You will contribute to planning and delivering a stimulating programme of activities for children aged 3–9 years (term time) and up to 14 years during holiday club, ensuring a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment at all times.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Friendly, caring and approachable
• Reliable, flexible and able to work as part of a team
• Enthusiastic, creative and motivated
• Experienced in working with young children
• Able to build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
• You should also demonstrate:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organisational skills and a “can-do” attitude
• The ability to create engaging, experiential play opportunities
• Knowledge of childcare standards and frameworks (e.g. GIRFEC, Playwork Principles) is desirable.

Qualifications & Requirements

An Early Years or relevant childcare qualification is desirable (or willingness to work towards one)

Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is required within 3 months of appointment

Successful candidates must be eligible for PVG Scheme membership, provide two references, and demonstrate fitness to work with children

Salary

£12.71 per hour
