This vacancy is only open to internal members of staff currently on a GCU contract of employment
The GCU Entrepreneurial Hub plays a key role in supporting the University’s ambitions to foster entrepreneurship, innovation and enterprise. The Hub provides a vibrant and inclusive environment where students, graduates and staff can develop entrepreneurial skills, explore new ideas, access business support and engage with a network of entrepreneurs, mentors, investors and industry partners. Through a programme of events, workshops, mentoring and funding opportunities, the Hub supports individuals at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey and contributes to the development of an innovative and enterprising university community.
As Entrepreneurial Hub Officer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Hub, acting as the primary point of contact for students, graduates, staff and external stakeholders. You will manage member services, coordinate workspace and meeting room bookings, respond to enquiries and oversee the delivery of an engaging programme of entrepreneurial events, workshops and networking activities. The role involves facilitating access to internal and external business support, seed funding opportunities and mentoring programmes, while developing strong relationships across the University and wider entrepreneurial ecosystem. You will also maintain member records, manage communications and digital channels, and support the continued growth and visibility of the Hub.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and proactive individual with experience of supporting entrepreneurship, enterprise development or business engagement activities. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational and project management skills, experience of planning and delivering events, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. You will be confident using digital platforms and communication tools, possess excellent administrative and record-keeping skills, and have a strong customer-focused approach. An understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and a passion for supporting aspiring entrepreneurs to achieve their goals are essential.
Experience of working within a higher education, business support or innovation environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of funding programmes, business incubation, start-up support or enterprise education initiatives. Experience of managing social media channels, digital marketing campaigns and stakeholder engagement activities would also be beneficial. A relevant qualification in business, enterprise, marketing, events management or a related discipline is desirable.
If you would like to discuss the opportunity or find out more about the role, please contact John Taylor, Alumni Engagement Manager, at john.taylor@gcu.ac.uk.
