The team

We are seeking an experienced Head of Transnational Education (TNE) to join our international team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about international partnerships and has a strong desire to make a positive impact. The International team is responsible for the delivery of the University’s international student recruitment, TNE and partnership plans, including activities to attract qualified international students to study GCU courses, the management of our global network of education agents, sponsors and partners, market insights and operational delivery of the University’s TNE strategy.

The role

This role is dedicated to driving financially sustainable growth of the University’s TNE portfolio, ensuring alignment with effective risk management practices and compliance with quality assurance requirements, delivering a high-quality experience to both students and partners. The postholder will oversee the management and development of the University’s existing TNE partnerships (including partnerships for recruitment) maximising opportunities for expansion and identifying, evaluating, and progressing new TNE initiatives, in close collaboration with colleagues across the University and external partners.

The postholder will have experience of leading, developing and implementing TNE partnerships, including development of robust business cases. Experience of overseeing academic quality assurance, awareness of QAA expectations in a TNE context and knowledge of institutional governance processes is essential. This role requires travel within the UK and overseas to represent the University at senior levels. This role is based in Glasgow, Scotland and includes the line-management of staff.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent experience and have extensive experience at managerial level in Higher Education. Experience of internal and external stakeholder management is crucial for this role, as is the ability to operate successfully across disciplinary/professional, organisational and cultural boundaries to achieve shared goals.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions, and a good understanding of challenges and opportunities of implementing TNE/partnerships in the Higher Education context. Experience of collating and monitoring data for reports and maintaining databases is required, along with experience of international market analysis and/or financial modelling.
