This is a full time, fixed term opportunity for up to 12 months and we will consider requests for flexible working arrangements, including job share.
The Department of Computer Science, within the School of Science and Engineering, is a dynamic and forward-looking academic community with a strong focus on delivering high-quality teaching, industry-relevant programmes, and student-centred learning. The Department offers a wide portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across areas such as computer science, cyber security, software engineering, games development, and data science, and is committed to enhancing student experience, employability, and academic success.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational academic who will contribute to the delivery and development of teaching across our programmes. The role will involve teaching on a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level, supervising student projects, and contributing to the ongoing development of the curriculum, including the design and enhancement of modules. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with innovative approaches to teaching, including the delivery of hybrid classes (on campus and online), and to support the broader academic activities of the Department.
Applicants should be educated to PhD level (or be nearing completion of a PhD) in a relevant discipline or have a postgraduate degree and relevant professional experience. Applicants will need to demonstrate strong subject knowledge in a relevant computer science discipline, experience of teaching in higher education or industry training, and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to a diverse student cohort. Applicants should have experience of or a clear interest in supervising student projects, contributing to curriculum development, and working collaboratively within a team. A commitment to delivering high-quality teaching, supporting student learning, and engaging with contemporary educational practices is essential.
