This is a full time/fixed term maternity cover for up to 12 months

with an anticipated start date in May 2026

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is one of the UK’s most forward-thinking and socially driven universities. Guided by our mission as the University for the Common Good, we deliver high-quality education and world-leading research that serves communities both locally and globally. With recognised strengths across applied research, knowledge exchange, and industry engagement, this is an exciting time to join us as we expand our research support structures.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Research Centre Assistant to join the Research and Knowledge Exchange Services (RKES) Directorate on a maternity-cover basis. RKES plays a crucial role in supporting the University’s three Research Centres and enabling academic excellence through operational, administrative, and strategic support.

As Research Centre Assistant, you will work closely with the Senior Research Centre Administrator and Centre Directors to provide high-quality administrative support across a range of research-related activities. You will act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, helping to ensure smooth coordination of Centre projects, events, communication channels, financial processes, and day‑to‑day operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy and varied environment, who enjoys supporting teams, and who brings strong organisational and communication skills. You will be joining a collaborative and dedicated directorate committed to fostering a positive and high-performing research culture across the University.

Please see the full job description for a full list of essential criteria. Please ensure you demonstrate how you can meet these criteria within your application.

If you’d like an informal chat about the role or want to learn more, please contact Antony Weir, Head of Research Operations at antony.weir@gcu.ac.uk
