An exciting opportunity has arisen for a research post based in the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health. The Centre, founded in 2010, aims to transform the lives of communities through pioneering research in economics of health and wellbeing, the social economy, and community development, citizenship and participation.
The researcher will be part of the UK Household Financial Diaries project, which will be undertaken in collaboration with Aston University (CPFW), and NEST Insight as consortium lead. This is a mixed-methods project which aims to explore, via financial diaries, income and expenditure volatility over time in low and middle income UK households, how families cope, which financial services they find useful, and policy solutions. The project combines quantitative data of household banking transactions, monthly in-depth interviews of financial experiences and decision-making, and focus groups. This project will be part of our FinWell research programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the research design, leading qualitative monthly interviews with low and middle income households in and around Glasgow, co-leading on the quantitative analysis of the financial transactions, contributing to the qualitative work, and collaborating on publications.
The ideal candidate will have experience of collecting primary data via interviews and also well developed statistical methods skills for quantitative analysis of financial transactions. The successful candidate will be educated to Masters level or equivalent in economics, finance, psychology, sociology or a related field. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills and work well in a team environment.
