This is a part time (0.6FTE)/open ended opportunity
Students, working in collaboration with colleagues and departments across the institution in the promotion of positive mental wellbeing for our students. The team comprises the Disability Team and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team, including Counsellors, Mental Health Advisers and Wellbeing Advisers.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Student Counsellor/Therapist to join the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team. The Counselling Service currently offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Person-Centred Counselling within a focused short-term intervention framework. The team offers individual support in person and online. The team’s practice is influenced by the Service’s membership of the BACP.
We are looking for someone educated to degree level or equivalent experience, with a professional postgraduate qualification in a relevant counselling or psychotherapeutic discipline. The candidate will have worked in a similar student support role in higher education and will have a proven track record in the delivery of individual therapeutic interventions.
Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health and mental health needs is essential, along with an ability to formulate appropriate therapeutic interventions according to clients’ mental health presentations. You will also need the ability to liaise and build effective relationships with internal and external representatives of other disciplines or agencies.
You will be a member of a relevant professional body and, ideally, hold professional accreditation.
As these roles involve regulated work with adults and/or children, successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership.
