OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- to carry out tasks and maintenance service delivery across the estates and facilities department enabling the smooth running of the College.
- to ensure all College property is available for staff and pupils at all times whilst ensuring the College is a safe and secure place for pupils, visitors and staff.
This position is part of a small team that covers the College 24/7 and involves working on a varied three-week shift pattern, with on-site on-call duties. Accommodation will be provided for this duty and is necessary for the performance of the allocated duties.
JOB CONTEXT
Glenalmond College is a co-educational independent boarding school in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, for children aged between 12 and 18 years. The College was founded in 1847 and provides independent education to up to 400 boarding and day pupils, supported by up to 150 academic and non-academic staff. The campus is situated in 300 acres of stunning countryside 8 miles from Perth. The rural location is idylli,c and the charm of the historical buildings is second to none.
The majority of full-time teaching staff and some non-teaching staff along with their families live on-site in accommodation (approximately 50 homes) provided by the College.
The successful candidate is required to work weekends and evenings as part of the shift pattern; this is a rolling three-week shift pattern during term time, with one week being on call. There are silent duties, hence the provision of accommodation which is not charged, and the need to cover additional duties if a team member is away or sick.
