Hamilton College is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic School Chef to join our Catering Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate individual to play a key role in providing high-quality, nutritious meals for our pupils, staff and visitors.

Key areas include:

  1. Assist in the preparation and serving of school meals in accordance with menus and dietary requirements.
  2. Ensure the dietary needs and allergen requirements of learners, staff, and parents are consistently met. This includes:
  3. Accurately identifying and preparing meals for individuals with specific dietary restrictions or allergies.
  4. Communicating clearly with the catering team, school staff, and parents to ensure safe food handling and service.
  5. Ensuring allergen signage and labelling are clear and compliant with school and legal standards.
  6. Participating in relevant training and staying informed about food safety regulations and best practices.
  7. Ensure food is presented attractively and served in a timely manner.
  8. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing up and cleaning surfaces and equipment.
  9. Set up and clear down the dining area before and after meal service.
  10. Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
  11. Assist with stock rotation and storage of deliveries.
  12. Provide friendly and courteous service to pupils and staff.
  13. Support themed meal days and school events as required.
  14. Support the school with events in evenings and weekends as required
  15. Report any concerns regarding food safety, equipment, or pupil welfare to the Head Chefs.

Hours

The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week (0700 – 1430, Monday – Friday) on a year-round basis. Please note that this is not a term-time position.

The successful applicant must either be an existing member of the PVG Scheme or be prepared to join this scheme and prove their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment. An offer of employment will be subject to two satisfactory references and a clean report from Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme.
