The Role

Job Purpose:

The Early Years Support Worker will work as part of a team to support the education and care of young children aged 3 to 5 years.

Key Outputs & Responsibilities:

· Support Early Years practitioners and managers in meeting the needs of all children

· Support children individually, or in a group, to access all activities in the playrooms and outdoors

· Liaise with other nursery staff to share information about individual children

· Follow health and safety and child protection guidelines and procedures at all times

· Assist in the organising, layout and clearing of the indoor and outdoor play areas ensuring all equipment is hygienic and well maintained

· Attend to all aspects of children’s care and wellbeing, including assisting with toileting and changing, administering first aid and medication

· Fostering and maintaining good relations with children, colleagues and parents

· Assist Early Years Practitioners in assessment and progress monitoring for children

· Engage in Staff Review and CPD appropriate to the post

· Ensure the positive management of children’s behaviour at all times

· Cover for EYPs in their absence, for example by taking over their groups and the associated paperwork

· Be responsible for a small key group of children and all associated paperwork and meetings, when necessary, with support and advice from other staff

· Undertaking such other duties as the Nursery Manager or Rector may from time to time determine
