The High School of Glasgow Junior School is seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational part-time Art Teacher, to commence on 14 August 2023.

We believe that the Expressive Arts is a very important part of the curriculum in our Junior School and that the use of specialist teachers enhances the experience and opportunities for our pupils. The Art Specialist, along with their colleagues, will make a very important contribution to the School’s ethos.

The successful candidate should have extensive knowledge and expertise in teaching Art within the primary setting. Currently, the Art Teacher works with Junior 1 through to Junior 6 pupils. The candidate should be prepared to give time and commitment to projects beyond the classroom that would be beneficial to the education of the pupils, e.g. organising participation of pupils in competitions, organising scenery for a show. The Art Teacher also takes responsibility for the display and exhibition of art work throughout the whole of the Junior School, which contributes greatly to the ethos and atmosphere of our school.

The successful applicant may, if desired, participate in the Scottish Teachers’ Superannuation Scheme and the School will pay the employer’s contribution.

Candidates must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). The appointment will be subject to a successful application to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

The job information pack and an application form can be downloaded below. Please complete the application form and return it to vacancies@hsog.co.uk.

The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 5 May 2023.
