The High School of Glasgow is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Out of School Care Assistant to join our dedicated team.
This is a hands-on, floor-based role, supporting the delivery of a safe, engaging and high-quality childcare service after school. You will play a key role in supervising children, supporting activities and ensuring their wellbeing at all times. There may also be opportunities to assist with our Holiday Club programmes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
During Term Time
Supervise and engage pupils attending Out of School Care
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children at all times
Support and deliver fun, creative activities, including outdoor play and local trips
Set up and clear away activity areas and resources
Prepare and manage snacks in line with food hygiene standards
Maintain accurate registers and ensure all children are accounted for
Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
Support children with medical needs, allergies or any additional requirements
Assist with collecting children from clubs where required
Contribute ideas to enhance activities and overall service delivery
Provide basic administrative and clerical support
Administer first aid when required

Essential Requirements
Playleader/Early Years qualification (SCQF Level 6)
Registered with the SSSC
Experience working with and supervising young children
Strong communication skills with children, families and colleagues
Understanding of safeguarding and relevant care standards
Ability to engage children in creative and practical activities
Desirable Skills & Experience
First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months)
Food hygiene certificate
Experience in a school or out of school care setting
Experience supporting children with additional or complex needs
Basic IT skills (eg. MS Office)
