Jordanhill School offers a very extensive range of sports and activity programmes designed to support and develop the talents of our pupils both within and outwith the classroom and the school day.

Sports facilities on campus comprise a floodlit, full size synthetic hockey pitch, two rugby pitches, two 7-a-side grass football pitches, a multi-user games area, two gyms and a fitness suite. The school’s games hall, which incorporates a Dance Studio and two squash courts, is situated on Anniesland Road, a few minutes walk away.

The Physical Education department currently consists of the Principal Teacher, 4 teachers, a rugby development officer, hockey and football coaches and a large team of part-time coaching staff.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Jordanhill School to recruit a permanent Hockey Sports Development Officer. The role of the postholder is to create a thriving and sustainable development structure for hockey within Jordanhill School and to support and deliver the wider sports development programmes. Jordanhill School is also looking to develop a coaching partnership with Hillhead Hockey Club and would be interested in speaking with potential applicants about this exciting opportunity. The successful applicant would lead junior hockey at Hillhead Hockey Club as additional hours (to be confirmed with evolving dialogue).

Salaried hours are 15 hours per week excluding breaks. These hours will be distributed through the working year and week to meet the requirements of the service. In terms 1 and 2 there will be engagement on afternoons Monday to Friday and on a Saturday morning. Term 3 operates to a different pattern. Full details will be discussed at interview.

The post is permanent and sessional - the post holder will work up to 195 days (crica 39 weeks). Salary and holiday entitlement are calculated pro rata on this basis.

We hope that an additional 5 hours per week will be available to the postholder working with Hillhead Hockey Club. This is a new arrangement which we would like to discuss with interested applicants and would be a temporary arrangement in the first instance resulting in the postholder coaching a total of 20 hours per week.

Appointment is conditional on a successful PVG check prior to commencement in the post, satisfactory references, presentation of relevant qualifications and confirmation of the right to work in the UK. Any offer of employment will be withdrawn if any of the above conditions are not satisfied.

Person Specification and Application Form can be found at Jobs – Jordanhill School. Please return forms to Pauline Cameron, HR Officer at recruitment@jordanhill.glasgow.sch.uk. Closing date for this post is 12 noon Friday 15th May 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible.
