An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the innovative diagnostic radiography lecturing team at RGU. The subject has been voted 1st in Scotland for graduation prospects: Outcomes in Medical Technology and Bioengineering (Complete University Guide 2023) - Diagnostic Radiography, Top 5 in the UK* for overall student satisfaction in Medical Technology (National Student Survey 2022) and 1st in Scotland for Radiography (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022). The School of Health Sciences is multi-professional in composition and situated in our state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility. You will contribute to the delivery and development of our portfolio of courses and actively engage in research/consultancy activities.
The School team includes professionals from a wide diversity of allied health and sport disciplines providing a wealth of inter-professional education and research opportunities. The radiography team has strong links with clinical service providers across Scotland, providing a network for collaborative working.
The School of Health Sciences specialist radiography resources include a digital imaging X-Ray suite with wireless DR and a state-of-the-art clinical skills and simulation centre.
You will be a diagnostic radiographer with current clinical experience, evidence of personal and professional development and experience of supporting radiography students in the clinical environment.
Staff in the School of Health Sciences contribute to research in the following priority areas - (i) Professional/clinical practice, (ii) Human performance, (iii) Education; Incorporating research on professional, patient, and community education as well as teaching and learning research. Research in all three priority areas contributes to the overarching aim of enhancing wellbeing, with physical activity a common thread that the School is actively pursuing. The School has close links with the faculty-wide cross-disciplinary practice research group and the Scottish Centre for evidence-based, Multi-professional Practice: a Collaborating Centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute, as well as a range of national and international collaborations with academic institutions.

Grade 7 Salary Scale: £37,386 – 43,155
Grade 8 Salary Scale: £44,414 – 52,841
Salary on appointment will be dependent upon experience.
Applicants requiring sponsorship will be considered in line with UKVI sponsorship requirements. When appointing to part time positions, the University must meet the immigration requirements in relation to salary thresholds, which are applicable to some visas.
Candidates with limited or no prior experience as an academic will be placed on the first point of the Grade 7 scale. Consideration will be given to offering an Academic Attraction Payment (adjusted annually) for those candidates who have specific industry knowledge, skills or, expertise which are required for the position.

Job Description
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal Lecturer for Diagnostic Radiograph
RESPONSIBLE FOR: No supervisory responsibility
PURPOSE OF THE POST: Contributes to the delivery and development of the School's portfolio of courses and research activities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Carries out designated teaching and assessment duties and contributes to the School's portfolio of Radiography and multi-professional courses.
Develops and prepares teaching, learning, assessment, and feedback material including e-learning materials.
Provides pastoral care and support for students.
Provides a link tutor role to students and practice educators for a range of practice placement sites.
Participates in the training and support of practice educators for a range of practice placement sites.
Supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. Contributes to the development of the School's portfolio of courses and research activities.
Undertakes appropriate administrative responsibilities including identified coordinating roles within the course team.
Develops and maintains expertise in subject area.
Actively participates in and encourages research activities.
Participates in various marketing and recruitment activities for prospective radiography students. This may include career fairs, open days etc.
Maintains working relationships with other Schools and departments within the University, as necessary for the smooth operation and continued development of the School.
Promotes and markets the School and its courses to local, national and international clientele.
Actively participates in and contributes to relevant staff development activities.
Participates in and contributes to professional networks and organisations.
Carries out other relevant duties as requested by the Dean of School.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
Undergraduate professional qualification in Diagnostic Radiography
Evidence of CPD, particularly in relation to education
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer
Knowledge
Comprehensive, contemporary knowledge of the practice and professional elements of Diagnostic Radiography.
Understanding of relevant legislation and policy relating to UK Diagnostic Radiography practice.
Understanding of the concepts of research and application of evidence based practice.
Experience
Extensive experience of radiography clinical practice.
Experience in providing teaching, learning, assessment and feedback in either academic or clinical settings.
Experience in providing inspiration and pastoral support to students.
Other
The role may require travel to a range of practice placement centres including remote and rural sites.
