Job Summary

Student Recruitment is responsible for delivery of the university's student recruitment targets in both the home and international markets through implementation of its strategy to deliver progressive growth in core and nominated markets.

Joining the busy International Recruitment team, you will be primarily focused on supporting the management of the relationships with key stakeholders such as education agents and scholarship bodies; as well as working with team leadership on activity to support international student recruitment generally.

Educated to degree level, you will have extensive experience working in a sales-orientated service driven culture. Your experience will include events delivery, working in a sales environment, as well as experience of international markets/marketing. We may also consider applications from new graduates with some sales or marketing experience.

Your role will also include some work during unsociable hours (evenings and weekends) and covering events overseas independently, with a travel expectation of up to 10 weeks overseas per year.

Job Description

RESPONSIBLE TO: Recruitment Manager South Asia & East Africa

RESPONSIBLE FOR: No supervisory/management responsibility

PURPOSE OF THE POST: To support the delivery of Robert Gordon University's recruitment strategy by establishing and developing positive relationships with partner schools, colleges and our agent network and representing the University at recruitment events internationally.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Raise the profile of Robert Gordon University and maximise undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment.
  • Role will initially support institutional activities in South Asia and East Africa
  • Represent the department with stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Undertake a minimum of 10 weeks overseas travel to represent institution at recruitment events, meeting with recruitment partners and local schools.
  • Provide information and advice to prospective applicants and their advisers and representatives.
  • Liaise with academic colleagues to enable them to participate in strategic recruitment activity
  • Create and maintain presentation content for delivery at workshops to partner schools, colleges, universities and RGU's agent network. This includes tailoring presentations to meet the specific needs of the audience.
  • Coordinate and lead on social media campaigns to promote scholarships, gather student led content and wider institutional activities.

    Co-ordinate and represent the University at student recruitment exhibitions both home and virtually overseas, including giving tailored presentations
  • Liaise with external organisations to raise awareness of Robert Gordon University and keep abreast of educational developments.
  • Support RGU staff based overseas with a range of related duties as and when required.
  • Carry out such other related duties as may be assigned.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS

First Degree preferably in a related subject.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.

Ability to gather and use market intelligence to inform recruitment activity and maintain awareness of education-sector developments.

Strong organisational and planning skills.

EXPERIENCE

Experience of events delivery.

Experience of working in sales-focused environments.

Extensive experience of working with internal and external customers to deliver efficient and effective services.

Experience of planning or supporting social media campaigns, digital marketing activity or content creation.

TRAVEL/OTHER

Ability to work evenings and weekends as part of the role.

Ability to travel independently overseas throughout the year for periods of up to two weeks at a time.

 

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS

Membership of Chartered Institute of Marketing or similar professional accreditation/membership.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Knowledge of higher education and student admissions processes.

EXPERIENCE

Demonstrate experience of working in student recruitment and education marketing, and current UKVI regulations.

Experience of international markets/marketing.
