We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of Business Education to join the Business Department at the College. The department is thriving and has five other members of staff including the Head of Department. We would welcome applicants looking for a full-time, part-time or probationer post. The post is available from August 2026 and will be a one-year fixed term post in the first instance.

The three subjects available in the department – Accounting, Business Management and Economics - are offered at National 5 level in S3/S4 and at Higher level in S5 and S6. Courses in Advanced Higher Accounting, Advanced Higher Economics and Advanced Higher Business Management are offered to pupils in S6 who have shown significant aptitude and interest. From August 2026 the department will expand its provision with the introduction of a Business course to S2 pupils. The department actively engages with the world ‘beyond the classroom’ to ensure that its pupils are academically and socially prepared to meet the challenges of education, work and life.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of Business Education at the College through an ability to undertake successfully the following tasks:

  • To be committed to teaching Business Education and using a variety of teaching strategies. It would be desirable for the applicant to be able to teach two out of the three subjects offered within the department, at more than one level;
  • To create an effective teaching and learning environment which offers support and encouragement to pupils;
  • To be involved in developing teaching materials, planning courses and identifying departmental priorities;
  • To support the contribution made by the Business Education Department to the broad-based curriculum of the College and also to the experience and skills development of its pupils;
  • To maintain appropriate records of pupil performance and assessment;
  • To contribute to curricular developments and professional learning activities;
  • To share responsibility with all colleagues for the maintenance of good discipline, behaviour and conduct among pupils; and
  • To show commitment and enthusiasm in working as part of the departmental team.
