SCHOLAR Unit, Heriot-Watt University

Since 1999, schools across Scotland have trusted SCHOLAR to provide high-quality interactive online learning to enhance classroom practice and support blended and independent learning. With over 0.5 million course enrolments, SCHOLAR is used in over 96% of Scottish secondary schools, offering learners access to interactive online learning materials created specifically to support SQA National Qualifications. SCHOLAR’s online learning services are delivered on SCHOLAR’s unique Virtual Learning Environment that provides learners and teachers with access to detailed diagnostic information on learner progress and attainment. In addition to providing interactive learning materials, a range of additional services are offered including the provision of a range of Print-On-Demand Study Guides are provided.

SCHOLAR is delivered through a not-for-profit partnership between The Association of Directors of Education in Scotland (ADES) and Heriot-Watt University, and is supported by subscriptions collected from Scotland’s local authorities, independent schools and colleges.
