St Philip’s School provides specialist Residential Care and Education to young people aged 10 – 18 years, who have a range of additional support needs, including social, emotional and behavioural development. St Philip’s School ensure all young people utilising our services are supported in a nurtured and trauma informed way and follow The Promise for Scotland’s children and young people.

St Philip’s School are seeking a hands on and motivated Assistant Finance Manager responsible for overseeing all financial and payroll operations. This includes managing the financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance including purchase ledger experience, excellent analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities:

The role includes, but is not limited, to the following responsibilities.

· Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction.

· Monitor the organisation’s financial performance against budget and forecasts, providing regular updates to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

· Supervise and mentor the administration team.

· Process invoices and complete monthly payment run.

· Disbursement and Reimbursement of petty cash on a weekly basis.

· Uploading credit card transactions & reconciliation

· Processing all aspects of payroll including starters/leavers and pension administration

· Purchase ledger tasks as required

· Following up and dealing with supplier queries and investigating discrepancies

· Supporting the HR and Administration functions with annual leave, PVG records and all other associated tasks as required.

· Organise and negotiate all telephone contracts for the school’s services and staff

· Oversee the administration of new school vehicles and associated tasks with insurers etc

Skills:

· Proficiency in Sage Accounting and all Microsoft Office 365 software

· Knowledge of payroll administration and processes

· Strong numerical and analytical skills

· Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry

· Good organisational and time management abilities

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment

· Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance

· Relevant procurement experience

Qualifications:

· At least Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar or relevant role.
