UHI Shetland has a vacancy for a 0.5FTE lecturer (17.5 hours per week) within the Health, Care & Society team on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2026. This role will require the successful candidate to develop and deliver a variety of learning materials and approved courses relating to Counselling, for example HNC Counselling; HND Counselling, COSCA Certificate, Introduction to Counselling and other health and social care related courses.

Applicants must possess a relevant Counselling undergraduate degree or further professional/academic qualification at SCQF 9 or above.

The duties of this position include preparation, teaching and assessing students on approved courses, preparing students to undertake assessments, and verifying those assessments. Lecturers are also expected to be involved in the development, promotion and marketing of new and existing courses, and the recruitment of students.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children and vulnerable adults, and confirmation of eligibility to work in the UK.

Distant Islands Allowance is currently set at £2,742 (pro rata) which would be in addition to any salary payment.
