At UHI Shetland our Department of Engineering is currently looking for an individual with the passion for developing people working towards Wind Turbine Technical qualifications.

Experience of working as an electrical or mechanical engineer within a relevant industry area is essential. A useful network of contacts within the wind farm industry is highly desirable.

You must hold qualifications equivalent to, or higher, than those to be developed and delivered in this curricular area. You must be qualified to a minimum SCQF level 7 (SVQ L3 or HNC level) or an equivalent level of qualification in an appropriate field. Possession of current certification is essential.

Ideally, you will have experience in delivering and developing the Further Education curriculum and possession of a teaching qualification is desirable. Assessor and / or verifier units, would also be desirable.

Strong ICT skills will prove a significant advantage and flexibility to teach across multiple renewable disciplines e.g. Photovoltaic, Heat Pumps and Solar Collectors would be desirable.

An effective communicator, and a highly motivated individual, you will have a passion for the subject and the ability to work to deadlines both within a team setting, and on your own.

This post is part of UHI partnership TalEntEd project funded for 7 years through the Scottish Government.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update with a successful outcome, provide confirmation of eligibility to work in the UK, and satisfactory references prior to starting appointment.
