JOB PURPOSE

1. To support business development opportunities and income generation activities for UHI Shetland to help underpin the financial sustainability of the College

2. To support staff in the process of development of business cases for tenders, contracts and research grant and other income generation opportunities

3. To undertake finance and project oversight and reporting on grant and contract activity in the college

4. To engage with risk management activities and audit linked to areas of responsibility

The post holder will work will be expected to work with colleagues and visit across both Shetland UHI campuses.

MAIN DUTIES

1. To support business development opportunities and income generation activities for UHI Shetland to help underpin the financial sustainability of the College.

· To contribute to business development activity for UHI Shetland

· To represent UHI Shetland in local business networks as required

· To represent UHI Shetland UHI in wider UHI income generation and business development activities

· To support the process of development of business cases for proposed changes to the College or capital investments.

2. To support staff in the process of development of business cases for tenders, contracts and research grant and other income generation opportunities.

· To generate timely and accurate financial projections and financial modelling that informs both the income and cost sides of budgets and support the governance arrangements and performance management activities that monitor income and spending, where relevant.

· To advise staff on grant and contractual requirements and obligations and support development of appropriate bids

· Research, identify and disseminate grant winning and income generation opportunities for the college.

3. To undertake finance and project oversight and reporting on grant and contract activity in the college

· To support the project management systems that ensure the smooth-running of projects and reporting to internal and external stakeholders as required

· To contribute to the development, setting and monitoring of project financial plans and ensuring value for money is being achieved.

4. To engage with risk management activities and audit linked to areas of responsibility.

· To undertake risk management assessment of projects in order to enhance current risk management registers within UHI Shetland; tying operational risk assessments into operational risk registers and to wider risk registers.

· To contribute to internal and external audit linked to postholders responsibilities as required

The specific responsibilities of the post may be adjusted from time to time as necessary. The post holder will be expected to have a flexible approach and be willing to adapt to changes in their role in response to the changing needs of the college.
