Many of our pupils arrive having faced challenges in traditional education settings and may feel disengaged or lacking in confidence. As a teacher at Mirren Park, you will have the opportunity to build trusting relationships, develop resilience, and support young people to succeed both in school and in life.

We are looking for committed professionals who are keen to develop as trauma informed practitioners. You will be supported to tailor your teaching to meet individual needs and to create an environment where young people feel safe, valued and understood. This role would suit someone who believes in the power of physical education and sport as a vehicle for positive change.

About Mirren Park School

Mirren Park School supports young people aged 11 to 18 with a wide range of additional support needs including social, emotional and mental health needs, autism and complex presentations. We deliver a full curriculum experience that is structured to be supportive, relevant and engaging, enabling young people to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Role Requirements

· An appropriate teaching qualification

· Full registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland in the appropriate subject or eligibility and willingness to obtain registration

· Ability to plan, deliver and develop a relevant and engaging curriculum

· Strong classroom organisation and behaviour support skills

· Ability to assess, track and report on pupil progress to inform learning and teaching

· Ability to prepare pupils for qualifications and support their assessment where required

· Actively contributing to the school community and it’s positive ethos

· Ability to contribute to school improvement planning and self-evaluation

· Commitment to ongoing professional learning and to supporting the development of colleagues including probationer and student teachers
