This is an exciting time to join this new team and working with Best Value means you will have a hand in shaping the future of the force. The importance of this work is recognised at the highest levels in Police Scotland and the team will have the potential to influence all parts of the organisation, including areas such as sustainability, partnerships, finance and communities.

More information about what Best Value means to Scottish public bodies can be found online, however if you would like to talk about Best Value in Police Scotland or wish to discuss other aspects of working at Police Scotland, please contact recruitmentteam3@recuitment.police.uk

The Best Value (BV) Senior Auditor will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the Best Value assurance programme, in order to deliver the BV implementation and continuous improvement plan.

This role will be integral to the implementation and operation of the BV assurance framework, engaging with “internal client” business areas to run planning workshops and supporting the business leads in carrying out self-assessments.

Based on the self-assessments, the Senior Auditor will undertake an evidence-based evaluation and assess the extent to which effective BV decision making has taken place and the extent to which controls, structures and arrangements can be relied upon to deliver Best Value. The assessment must be capable of standing up to professional external scrutiny. This will be followed by the development of a report containing bespoke outcome-oriented recommendations based on the findings. These will then be followed up, supporting responsible colleagues to achieve the targeted outcomes and progress reported within the relevant timescales.

The role will also support the Best Value Manager in liaising between the Best Value Responsible Owners (PS Exec team), contributing departments and other third party organisations, ensuring that relationships with internal and external stakeholders are well-established, trusting and collaborative. The incumbent will also champion the BV principles and advocate for continuous improvement in achieving value for taxpayer-funded resources.
