As a Children’s Rights Officer, your responsibilities will involve:

  • Support Police Scotland’s commitment to embedding the principles of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and will shape, influence, and drive positive policy and practice change across the organisation.
  • Manage issues in relation to children’s rights within Police Scotland/SPA. Work towards positively influencing the culture of the service to create a fair and effective policy and approach to children’s rights.
  • Ensure that Police Scotland/SPA meets its specific statutory obligations, in respect of UNCRC that our procedures and practices are fair, objective and transparent.
  • Contribute to embedding children’s rights within Police Scotland policy and practices. This will be achieved by working collaboratively to meaningfully involve children and young people during the impact assessment process so that we deliver effective services which meet their diverse needs.
