Police Scotland requires high standards of driving from the drivers within the organisation and we are seeking enthusiastic and experienced driving instructors to train and assess our officers and staff.

The primary role of a Police Scotland driving instructor is to instruct Police Officers and Police Staff in practical driving techniques and emergency response driving, including providing practical demonstrations and teaching a uniform system of car control (based on Roadcraft Manual).

You will hold a full DVSA category B driving licence and possess previous training and experience in Police emergency response driving instruction.

Primacy will be given to those with experience as an “Advanced” Police Driving Instructor, and who can work from the Scottish Police College, (Tulliallan), however consideration may be given to suitably qualified applicants in delivering “Standard” level instruction from various locations across Scotland. DVSA rules require that driving instructors teaching provisional licence holders to attain new licence categories must themselves have held a Driving Licence in the relevant categories for a minimum of 3 years.
