This role sits within the Workforce Governance Team and plays a key part in supporting the Board’s oversight of HR and H&S management and supporting continuous improvement through working with senior peers within Police Scotland. The role also offers exposure to high profile HR activities that are the specific responsibility of the Authority e.g. appeals against dismissal for staff and senior officer recruitment.
Given the above responsibilities, we are seeking an HR professional with strong generalist experience, ideally but not necessarily within the Public Sector. You may also have more specialised knowledge and experience within particular areas of HR. You will be confident engaging with senior stakeholders, often without formal positional authority, and able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
You will be expected to display;
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large amounts of information and provide an informed professional view and evidence-based recommendations.
Ability to work independently, showing initiative, professional curiosity, and drive.
A proactive approach with a strong commitment to public service values and professional ethics.
A commitment to continuous professional development and keeping abreast of good practice.
A knowledge of good governance practices particularly as it relates to HR and H&S would be desirable, but the role provides an opportunity to develop skills / knowledge in this area that would allow for future career development.
Minimum CIPD Associate level, ideally Chartered Member level or working towards same.
