This role will help ensure that children and young people growing up in Scotland are informed and actively engaged, can shape, influence and drive positive change so that they grow up loved, safe and respected.

This role will develop a proposition that means wherever they live, children and young people growing up in Scotland can develop a relationship with Police Scotland and see us as an organisation they can influence or be part of.

The purpose is to lead the design, planning and delivery of the youth engagement and participation approach within Police Scotland, ensuring that the service meaningfully involves children and young people in decision-making so that we deliver effective services which meet their diverse needs.

Ensure that an appropriate and sustainable youth engagement structure and approach is in place, meeting the needs of children and young people as well as decision-makers and leaders throughout the service.

Ensure that an evidence-led approach is taken to inform decision-making, transformation, strategy, service improvement planning and engagement activities for Police Scotland.

The approach and supporting framework will be designed with children and young people at the heart and follow best practice, in accordance with the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), including the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 and best practice in the area of youth engagement and participation.
