Business Change Lead

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Business Change Lead, based in any of the SFRS’ designated work locations on a fixed-term basis for 23 months. This is a full time post working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to lead the full organisational readiness, business change and adoption activities for the Corporate Business Solutions project. As a change lead, the postholder will be responsible for ensuring that people, processes, data, training, governance, culture and ways of working are fully prepared for transition to the future state delivered by the project.

The role will lead across multiple areas of organisational change, documenting the overarching project approach to change, creating and maintaining a change plan, leading impact assessments, defining and delivering communications, coordinating training and ensuring that all functions within the scope of the project are ready for go-live and sustained adoption.

The postholder will work under the strategic direction, guidance and professional standards set by the Business Change and Implementation Manager and be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, influencing stakeholders at all levels across the Service and lead a multi-functional network of change champions which will include business representatives, subject matter experts, operational service users and back office service providers.

To be considered for the Business Change Lead role, applicants must have demonstrable experience of leading complex end-to-end business change enabled through new digital capabilities in a large organisation. The applicant should be experienced in every component of the business change journey, from generating buy-in and future-state design, to ensuring a smooth transition and embedding the change for benefits realisation. In particular, the applicant will be able to demonstrate an excellent ability to manage stakeholder resistance, understanding root-cause analysis, emotional intelligence, and an ability to influence. Communication (written and oral) and facilitation skills are essential, to support end-users in their change journey and report to senior leadership.

Alongside the professional experience, applicants must have a recognised qualification in Change Management, the ability to travel to various SFRS locations across Scotland, and experience of line management.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Level 2 Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
