The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Equipment Support Operative, based in Fleet and Equipment Workshops, 21 Claylands Road, Newbridge, EH28 8LF on a permanent basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week.

This is a full time post however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to be an integral part of the Workshop staff within the Asset Management Department and have responsibilities for the administration, maintenance and repair of all designated pieces of operational equipment.

Essential Criteria:

  • The Minimum requirement would be 2 years industrial workshop or Motor Trade/ Small plant equivalent workshop environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computer packages

Desirable Criteria:

  • Good Understanding of Health and Safety in a workshop Environment
  • Engineering / technical educational certificates and or Training courses
  • Mechanical or technical engineering background
  • Full, valid British driving licence
  • Conversant in the use of asset management system and its associated modules or similar asset managing software packages.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
