An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Service Mobile Communication Programme/In Vehicle Systems (ESMCP/IVS) Training Department in the DaTS Directorate for potential Training Instructors. ESMCP is a UK wide £19.2 billion investment in upgrading the critical communications network for all blue light Category one responders. In Vehicle Systems is the SFRS wide modernisation of front-line voice and data critical communications systems. This represents the biggest change to the services information systems since its formation in 2013.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of ESMCP Training Instructor, based in flexible locations across Scotland on a temporary basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The role is based across the three Service Delivery Areas to support a national rollout. The successful candidate will assist in the design, development, and the delivery of the Training packages for the service to transition to the new Gurdian Fire Mobile software presented within the vehicle cabs on the Panasonic CF33 Toughbook and Handsfree hardware being delivered on all front-line appliances that will effectively enhance situational awareness at operational incidents. There is an upgrade to the Airwave vehicle device included in this upgrade.
The Training Instructors will also play a key role in other aspects of project management on a national scale, helping to develop knowledge and understanding of the Programme amongst SFRS colleagues and external partners.
The successful candidate must have a high degree of flexibility, be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and work well as part of a small team and have a willingness to travel throughout Service Delivery Areas when required. A high standard of interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in addition to excellent attention to detail, is essential. Previous training background is also essential to the role.
Candidates must have a driver’s licence and have the ability to travel.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
