The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Fire Ground Technician, based at Newbridge Training Centre, Claylands Road, Edinburgh EH28 8LF, on a permanent basis. This is a full-time post working 35 hours per week, however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to provide key operational support to the delivery of training. The successful candidate will be responsible for the construction and breakdown of training events/scenarios, maintaining, operating and servicing the wide range of equipment used within the training facility, coordinating and controlling spares and stock and liaising with internal and external customers of the training centre.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable. Applicants are required to be self-motivated with excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills in order to perform to the standard required for the role. Many aspects of the role will involve ensuring equipment is compliant with regulations and legislation so a high level of attention to detail and manual dexterity is vital.
The successful candidate will hold a full UK driving licence and have experience in a similar role working with and maintaining tools/plant/machinery and as such a forklift/telehandler/LGV qualification would be beneficial. An awareness of COSHH and a manual handling regulations and a current First Aid qualification would be beneficial.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
