Job Summary
We have a number of permanent and temporary (up to 18 months) opportunities in our Operations Control Rooms and we are seeking motivated individuals to join the team. The role involves managing many tasks during an incident including: answering emergency calls, mobilising our resources, communicating using radios, working with partners and other organisations and monitoring incidents from start to finish. The ideal candidate for this role will have a desire to work with members of the community, using excellent communication skills, and be calm and confident when working under pressure.  We are looking for team players who are positive in approach and committed to learning and developing their skills.  An ability to multi-task effectively and demonstrate good problem-solving and decision-making skills is also required.

We have three Operations Control rooms where our firefighters control work from:
- Dundee
- Edinburgh
- Johnstone

Operations Control Recruitment Open days are being planned for the 6th and 7th of December, to give insight into the role and the day-to-day workings of our Operations Controls, in Dundee, Edinburgh and Johnstone.

If you are successful at the shortlisting stage of the recruitment process, you will be invited to complete practical tests. This will involve a number of individual and group exercises to test your ability to meet the requirements of the job. The practical tests are expected to take place on Friday 9 & Saturday 10 January 2026.
Top performing candidates will then be invited to attend for an interview. Interviews are expected to take place week commencing 12 January 2026.
