Performance Officer

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Performance Officer based in Training, Safety & Assurance Directorate on a temporary basis.  This is a part-time opportunity, working 21 hours per week until June 2027, however, applications from individuals seeking to work on a flexible working basis would be considered.

Applicants are required to be educated to HNC level in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience.  They should have analytical and problem-solving skills; be able to recognise recuring patterns or significant shifts that indicate a direction change, be innovative, and be able to prepare, cleanse and explore new data and to present analysis in an easy-to-understand way using charts, graphs and infographics.  The successful should be able to clearly communicate key findings of complicated analysis to a wide range of audiences and are required to have practical experience of using R and/or Python for data analysis, including preparing, cleansing, transforming and analysing datasets. Experience should include using appropriate libraries/packages to explore data, identify trends and patterns, automate analytical processes where appropriate, and produce clear analytical outputs.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
