The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Physiotherapy Practitioner, based in Scotland on a permanent basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered. The successful candidate must have the ability to travel.
The successful candidate will be required to contribute to Subject matter advice within the wellbeing team. To assess and treat a caseload of Musculoskeletal conditions with approximately 25 to 40% hands on clinics and 75 to 60% virtual assessment and treatment. The applicant would need to be competent in undertaking virtual assessment and confident in ability to screen red flags and know when hands on or Primary care referral is required. This is a virtual first post and the ability to use phone and teams for this purpose is required. Plus, good IT skills to assess data, provide service outcome reports as well as day to day clinical recording to current CSP and HCPC standards.
You will need to be a CSP member as well as maintain the HCPC CPD and professional standards. Alongside this the core standards of the SFRS will need to be upheld alongside clinical governance and the ability to use our bespoke paperless "Cority" notes and diary system. You will need the confidence to manage complex cases and prepare clear guidance and reports to aid patient care and give advice on suitability to role, reasonable adjustments to be made due to longer term conditions and return to work protocol. You will be supported by your line manager who can provide clinical and role-based support for decision making and case outcomes. You will be working collaboratively as a team in support of patients returning to work. You will support staff and employee training and education.
Applicants will be required to hold a BSc (Hons) recognised by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Applicants must abide by HCPC and CSP Codes of Professional Conduct and work in line with CSP Core Standards of Practice, as well as SFRS policies and procedural frameworks. They should have the ability to lead a team of physiotherapists and demonstrate effective communication skills, including the ability to influence a range of stakeholders. Applicants should have a proven track record of developing and implementing MSK injury prevention strategies, policies and procedures, reducing sickness absence, and delivering physiotherapy services. They must have knowledge of current Health and Safety and other relevant emerging legislation and professional guidance relating to physiotherapy and clinical practice. Applicants should be able to work on their own initiative and exercise judgement to inform decision making, with a clear commitment to and evidence of continual professional development. They should demonstrate effective planning and organisational skills, with working knowledge of MS Office, spreadsheets, databases and management systems, and experience of problem solving in an analytical manner to identify sensible and proportionate solutions.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
