The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) would like to invite applications for the post of Procurement Officer. Location is based in Cambuslang, with agile and flexible working also available. This is a permanent full-time/part-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week, however applications from individuals seeking to work on a job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The SFRS protects one of the largest geographical areas of any Fire and Rescue Service with over 350 Community Fire Stations and corporate locations across Scotland. We manage a diverse range of risks, from urban cities to remote and rural island locations. Our Corporate Services teams, which Procurement are a part of, provide the enabling, professional services that support front line delivery.
Procurement within the SFRS takes place in a fast paced, dynamic environment and the Service is seeking an individual for the role of Procurement Officer, within our Procurement Team, who will relish the unique challenges that the Service faces, working with a variety of customers across the organisation to deliver sustainable, strategic and best value procurement outcomes.
You will be part of a Category Team, assisting in the management and delivery of the overall workplan allocated to the Category Team. You will work under the general direction of the Procurement Specialist and work closely with stakeholders within your own portfolio of goods and services, you will be responsible for assessing service needs in order to develop and implement commodity strategies that support business requirements and deliver efficient, effective tendering processes that ensure value for money in line with overall Service organisation strategies and goals.
Through the management of the procurement process, the Procurement Officer will deliver contract solutions which support SFRS in achieving its sustainable procurement duty and ensuring compliance with procurement legislation.
You will be educated to CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply with appropriate level of CIPS membership reflecting current stage of CIPS qualification.
You will have a minimum 3 years of experience of successful undertaking tender activity within a category management environment of a large organisation together with the practical knowledge and application of the procurement legislative framework applicable to the public sector.
You will have experience in the management of stakeholders during the procurement process, together with demonstrable commercial aptitude and ability to deliver results to agreed timescales in a demanding and fast-moving work environment.
You will be knowledgeable and experienced in working in an environment with significant process and procedural controls.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
