Procurement Specialist

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Procurement Specialist based at SFRS Headquarters, Cambuslang, with agile working also available.

This is a full-time post working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

 The SFRS protects one of the largest geographical areas of any Fire and Rescue Service with over 350 Community Fire Stations and corporate locations across Scotland. We manage a diverse range of risks, from urban cities to remote and rural island locations. Our Corporate Services teams, which Procurement are a part of, provide the enabling, professional services that support front line delivery.

Procurement within the SFRS takes place in a fast paced, dynamic environment and the Service is seeking an individual for the role of Procurement Specialist, within our Procurement Team, who will relish the unique challenges that the Service faces, working with a variety of customers across the organisation to deliver sustainable, strategic and best value procurement outcomes.

You will provide support to the Category Lead, assisting in the management and delivery of the overall workplan allocated to the Category Team. Working closely with stakeholders within your own portfolio of goods and services, you will be responsible for assessing service needs in order to develop and implement commodity strategies that support business requirements and deliver efficient, effective tendering processes that ensure value for money in line with overall Service organisation strategies and goals.

Through the management of the procurement process, the Procurement Specialist will deliver contract solutions which support SFRS in achieving its sustainable procurement duty and ensuring compliance with procurement legislation.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.  A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.

This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Level 2 Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
