Project Manager

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Project Manager, based in West Asset Resource Centre, Cambuslang on a permanent basis. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered.

Reporting to the Property Development Manager, the successful candidate will support the Property Development Manager in the development and implementation of strategic and asset development programs and project plans. The role involves the management and administration of projects from inception stage through to construction phase and completion, reporting thereon as appropriate, to ensure high standards are maintained.

Applicants require to hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, together with 5 years post qualification project management experience within property/construction fields in a similar senior role. Ideally you will have full membership of the relevant professional body and be qualified or experienced in Prince2 or other project management methodology.

In addition, the candidate must be experienced in procuring and managing all types of property related contracts, including the development of tender documents and assessment of submitted PQQs and tender returns procured through Public Contracts Scotland, Hubs or through authorised Frameworks.

Proficient in the use of appropriate ICT equipment including CAD packages to assist in the effective collation, analysis and presentation of information, the successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team, with minimal supervision and will need to be able to effectively manage competing demands and time pressures.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
