SDA Business Support Assistant
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of SDA Business Support Assistant, based in Inverness Fire Station and LSO Offices on a permanent basis. This is a part-time opportunity working 20 hours per week and will involve a hybrid of office and home based work.
This is a part-time post however applications from individuals seeking to work on a job share or flexible working basis would be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a key business support role to provide a high quality and sustainable business support to local Service Delivery Area Management Teams.
Some of the key tasks of the role include the provision of full administrative support for various meetings, handling telephone calls, processing absences for sickness and special leave and dealing with any enquiries, processing financial information which includes raising purchase orders and stock requests, receipting goods and paying invoices, booking travel and accommodation, handling both incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining and preparing information for a variety of bespoke systems.
Due to the nature of this role, a high level of confidentiality and understanding of GDPR regulations is required in dealing with personal and sensitive data and ensuring appropriate recording, handling and storing of information in line with Information Security and Records Management regulations.
Previous experience of working within a busy office environment is essential. As well as a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, in particular Word, Excel, Sharesite and Outlook you should have experience of working with multiple system interfaces. Experience of taking minutes/notes of meetings is preferable.
Applicants are required to work on their own initiative, prioritise their own workload and be able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail. Applicants should be self-motivated and have excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, coupled with a flexible approach. A strong awareness of confidentiality is also essential.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
