This is a part-time opportunity, working 21 hours per week.
We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Training Instructor to deliver high quality technical and practical training across the North Service Delivery Area. In this role, you will plan, prepare and deliver a wide range of specialist training activities to SFRS staff and partner agencies, ensuring delivery meets national standards.
You will support course development, assess learner performance, maintain training records and contribute to the continuous improvement of training provision. This role requires strong organisation, adaptability and the ability to respond to emerging training needs at short notice. Training may be delivered both in person and remotely, depending on instructional qualifications and course requirements.
Adequate notice will always be provided where travel is required, including to Orkney, Shetland, the Western Isles and mainland training sites.
The successful candidate will provide instructional support across the North Service Delivery Area, with travel to other SFRS locations as required. The role involves working in varied and remote environments to meet training needs. Some evening, weekend and overnight stays will be required to support course delivery and operational training schedules. Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
This post is subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. The successful candidate will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and will be required to carry out regulated work with adults and children.
