The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is delighted to invite applications from current competent Crew Commanders for the role of Volunteer Watch Commander at Cromarty Community Fire Station.

This post is based on and follows the national guidelines of the Watch Commander role map. The purpose of the job is to contribute to improving safety by protecting people, property and the environment by:

- Attending incidents as delegated and assist with station management

- Motivating personnel to ensure that the objectives of the Service are met

- Assisting with Community Safety

- Carrying out any other duties as directed by the Station Commander

Applicants must hold a minimum of a Ticket to Ride (ICA) qualification, successful candidates will not be confirmed in post until proof of possession is obtained.

The selection process will consist of an application form and interview process.

Shortlisting shall take place at each stage of the selection process as detailed within the Recruitment Information Pack.

Successful applicants will be placed on the development rate of pay until they are deemed competent. Where the successful candidate is already on the competent rate of pay, either due to a long term temporary promotion or via a signed off portfolio of evidence, they shall be placed on the competent rate of pay once the Service has satisfactory evidence of the above.

This post is subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. The successful candidate will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and will be required to carry out regulated work with adults and children.
