Are you detail‑driven, organised, and passionate about delivering high‑quality financial support? We have an exciting new position and are looking for a Finance Officer to play a key role in ensuring accurate financial processing, strong controls, and excellent service across our organisation.

Working closely with the Finance Business Partner and Senior Finance Officers, you’ll help keep our financial operations running smoothly supporting everything from accounts payable/receivable and reconciliations to payroll checks, reporting, and month‑end activities.

What you will be doing

  • Carry out accurate and timely financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal posting, and standard ledger updates.
  • Support monthly and annual financial timetables, ensuring tasks are completed in line with accounting standards and organisational policies.
  • Perform routine reconciliations (e.g., supplier accounts ledger balances) and investigate discrepancies, escalating issues appropriately.
  • Maintain strong financial controls by ensuring all documentation is complete, compliant, and properly authorised.
  • Support Senior Finance Officers in payroll, expenses and pension processes by preparing data, cross‑checking input, and validating information against source records.
  • Assist with responding to staff payroll queries, signposting or gathering required information.
  • Assist in the preparation of bank reconciliations by gathering data, checking transactions, and ensuring accurate supporting information.
  • Provide administrative support to cashflow monitoring, updating spreadsheets and highlighting unusual or unexpected variances.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to fixed assets, supporting Senior Finance Officers with updates to the asset register and ensuring information is complete and audit‑ready.
  • Prepare routine financial reports for colleagues, using data extracted from financial systems.
  • Provide accurate financial information to support the development of budgets and forecasts.
  • Respond to day‑to‑day financial queries from colleagues in a timely and professional manner, ensuring high standards of customer care.
  • Contribute to process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline tasks, enhance accuracy, or improve user experience.
  • Support changes to systems and processes, assisting with testing, documentation, and implementation.
  • Participate in team learning activities and sharing knowledge that improves financial workflows across the organisation.
