Barnardo's Scotland Fostering North have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Worker 2/Children's Worker to join our busy team. The post is for 37 hours. There is a requirement for some evening and weekend work.

Location: The successful candidate will have opportunities to work from home, however travel may be required across the Moray, Highland, Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire, Angus and Dundee areas. Please also note that some meetings and training occur Scotland Wide. The Service has an office base in Aberdeen which can also be used as your base. We meet in the office quarterly for team development opportunities.

As a Project Worker 2/Children's Worker, you will work within a team of supervising social workers, children's workers, therapists, managers, and admin staff responsible for the recruitment and support of foster carers who provide care to looked after children and young people who are referred to the service from the Local Authority.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • One to one and group work with children and young people.
  • Ensure that children & young people's welfare remains paramount and central in all aspects of the service.
  • Ensure the voice of children/young people are represented in the service through engaging in and where appropriate lead in the delivery of participation and consultation activities.
  • Be flexible to respond to the needs of children and young people
  • To contribute to service development.
  • To apply safeguarding, child and adult protection procedures.

Ideal Candidate must haves:

  • Demonstrate both excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a good understanding of the legislation we work within.
  • Qualification mandatory for practice, where applicable (NB: For staff having sole and direct access to children, young people and vulnerable adults, there is likely to be a future requirement for an NVQ3 level qualification)
  • Knowledge of child protection procedures.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence with access to their own vehicle.
  • Be flexible to work some evenings and weekends.
